Dental Bridges

If you have missing teeth, our Dental Team can “bridge” the gap(s) in your smile with a dental bridge. A dental bridge is a false tooth called a “pontic” that’s held in place by the abutment teeth on each side of the gap. Sometimes, pontics are made out of gold, but majority of the time, it’s made out of porcelain to match the rest of your natural teeth. In addition to enhancing your smile, dental bridges also stabilize adjacent teeth and strengthen your bite. They look natural and feel just like a real tooth.

There are 4 different types of dental bridges: traditional, cantilever, Maryland, implant-supported. Traditional bridges consist of false teeth held in place by dental crowns that have been cemented together into each of the abutment teeth. Meanwhile, the cantilever bridge is cemented to just one of the abutment teeth. Maryland bridges employ two natural teeth by bonding a pontic in the gap using porcelain or metal in the backs of the abutment teeth. Lastly, an implant-supported bridge is where an implant is surgically placed in the gap in which holds the bridge together. This procedure is considered to be the strongest and most stable dental bridge.

Sometimes, when a patient requires an emergency dentist due to a possible extraction, a dental bridge may be done as a possible solution for fixing the smile and restoring the ability to chew properly. Our dentists do a bridge to maintain the shape of your face, readjust your bite to properly distribute the force of your chewing, and prevent your teeth from shifting. This treatment may be costly but we think it is worth your money if it’s the treatment best suitable for your dental needs.

At Centrum Dental Centre, we give our patients options and educate them on all of the possible treatments that’s best suited for them. We care about you and your dental needs. Contact Us to Book an appointment
