Electric Toothbrushes Outperform Manual Brushes
A new study from Germany came out last month that confirmed what we have long suspected to be the case with your patients- that power toothbrushes are more effective than manual toothbrushes at reducing diseases of the gums. This was an 11 year study that involved more than 1500 individuals.
Interestingly although the study results show a decrease in the disease levels of those who used power toothbrushes vs manual tooth brushes, the type of toothbrush used didn't influence the amount of cavities the participants use.
We still believe that the biggest benefit of power toothbrushes is in the timer that typically comes with them, thus motivating patients to spend more time brushing when compared to a manual toothbrush.
