Dr. Ghamian  


Dr. Yamen Ghamian was raised in Montreal. After finishing British high school overseas, he returned to Montreal and attended the Microbiology program at McGill University for two years. During that time, he was on the Dean's Honour List and a member of the prestigious Golden Key Society.

He then went on to complete his Doctor of Medical Dentistry degree at McGill University. He was the Canadian Dental Association student representative of his graduating class as well as the sports representative for the Dental Student Society.

Dr. Ghamian graduated with numerous awards, including the Dr. Thornton Gold Medal, which is conferred upon the student with the highest standings for the dental degree program. He was also awarded the Prix Aldis Bernard, from the Order of Dentists of Quebec, given for excellence in academic achievements in Dentistry. Dr. Ghamian received the Prix Dr. Jean-Robert Vincent, awarded for excellence in special care dentistry in relation to Geriatric Dentistry.

In addition he was awarded the Pierre Fauchard prize for outstanding student leadership and fellowship at the dental undergraduate level.

Dr. Ghamian also obtained numerous scholarships including the McConnell Scholarship, Pierre Fauchard Academy Scholarship, and the Faculty of Dentistry Summer Research Scholarship.

Dr. Ghamian has successfully completed the American Dental Association National Boards Part I and Part II and the National Dental Examining Board of Canada Exams. He is currently licensed with the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario, and is a member of the Ontario Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry.

After dental school, Yamen went on to do a one year residency at the University of Michigan, one of the top three dental schools in the United States. There he attained an Advanced Education in General Dentistry certificate. This education gave him advanced knowledge of cosmetic and periodontal dentistry. It also gave him a solid hold of behaviour modification, a skill essential in paediatric dentistry.

After residency, Dr Ghamian chose to make Ottawa his home, where he lives with his wife Hadia and daughter Layan. Dr Ghamian is currently pursuing a fellowship with the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), an endeavor that involves among other things, 500 hours of continuing education courses. In September 2011, he passed the tough fellowship exam of the AGD, and will be recieveing his fellowship designation in summer 2012. He is the founder of Dentist's Den Study Club, a ottawa based study club based on excellence, ethics, motivation and volunteerism

Dr. Ghamian prides himself in taking the time to thoroughly and completely discuss treatment options with his patients. He believes the best form of dentistry is the least treatment necessary to obtain ideal oral health. Dr. Khoury  


Dr. Khoury was raised in Kuwait where he attended “The New American High School” and graduated with the highest overall ranking in the country. That same year Dr. Khoury and his family immigrated to Canada, where he attended McGill University for his undergraduate degree. Dr. Khoury attained an honors’ degree in Anatomy and Cell Biology. Soon after his graduation, Dr. Khoury completed his studies at McGill University for the Masters degree in the filed of Occupational Health and Safety and graduated with a 4.0 overall average. Dr. Khoury then pursued his Dental degree at McGill University where he was the Class President for three years and later on the President of the Dental Student Society of McGill University. In addition, throughout his stay in McGill, Dr. Khoury was very involved in numerous student associations and sat on a number of university committees such as the admissions and curriculum improvement committees and the infection control committee.

Dr. Khoury received the Dr. M. Donigan Award presented to the student attaining the highest overall standing in the Introduction to the Patient and Introduction to the Practice of Dentistry unit in the Basis of Medicine component of the curriculum. Also and in recognition of his academic and extracurricular achievements and involvement, Dr. Khoury was awarded the Dr. McCutcheon gold medal upon graduation. This medal is awarded to the member of the graduating class who has demonstrated outstanding qualities of leadership, scholarship and professional achievement throughout the duration of the program.

After graduation, Dr. Khoury attended the highly acclaimed Royal Victoria Hospital’s residency program, one of the top residency programs across Canada, for a four month internship focusing on implant dentistry research. Thereafter, he worked in Northwestern Ontario serving the town of Sioux lookout and 15 first nations’ reserves for 18 months in addition to a three months placement in Nunavut. Dr. Khoury gained extensive experience in the various areas of the practice of dentistry particularly in the pediatric and elderly population and the management and delivery of public dental care.

Dr. Khoury has successfully completed the National Dental Examining Board of Canada licensing exams in addition to the American Dental Association National Boards part I and Part II. He is currently licensed with the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario, and is a member of the Ontario Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry.

Dr. Khoury finally settled in Ottawa in August 2004 soon after he got married to Rula. Both Dr. Khoury and his wife Rula lead and are involved with various committees, communities and association here in Ottawa. They are very passionate about their music, cooking, entertainment hosting and travelling.

Dr. Khoury believes in conservative and preventative dentistry and is a strong advocate of the importance of through and comprehensive treatment plans that address all his patients’ concerns and is delivered by a team of dental hygienists, dental specialists and lab technicians. These patient-specific treatment plans are designed with the best interest, of the patient in mind to ensure the deliverance of the highest standards of practice and care.

Dr. Chan  


Dr. Wailan Chan was born and raised in London Ontario. He attended The University of Western Ontario for his undergraduate studies where he attained an honours degree in Chemical & Biochemical Engineering. Dr.Chan then received a national scholarship to pursue research in the dental field by studying dental materials where he successfully defended his Masters in Biomedical Engineering. During that time, he presented at various national and international conferences, and received awards from the Canadian Association for Dental Research. Dr. Chan continued his interest in Dentistry by completing his Dental degree at The University of Western Ontario, where he graduated with honours and distinction.

Dr. Chan was active in many aspects during his dental training. He continued his research and received awards from the Canadian Dental Association for his work in dental biomaterials. He participated in dental outreach providing free dental care to families with limited access in the London community. He was also active in pediatrics, providing dental care to children during the summer clinic at the university.

After graduation, Dr. Chan was accepted into a General Practice Residency in Pediatric Dentistry at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, which is recognized as one of Canada’s foremost pediatric health-care institutions. He gained extensive experience in providing all aspects of dental care to infants, children and adolescents with a wide range of medical needs. He also worked at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, where he gained experience in working with those with special needs.

Dr. Chan has successfully completed the American Dental Association National Boards and the National Dental Examining Board of Canada exams. He is currently licensed with the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario, and is a member of the Ontario Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry.

Dr. Chan is thrilled to make Ottawa his new home and is proud to join the team at Centrum Dental. Judy  (Office Manager)


Judy  attended  the University of Ottawa to obtain a  B.A. then a private college for a Dental Assisting diploma. She joined Centrum Dental in 2000, bringing with her 15 years of dental assisting and reception experience. In 2007 she became Office Manager for Centrum Dental. In her off time Judy enjoys the cottage, reading and running.

 

Karen  (Administration Assistant)


A graduate of the dental office administration course at George Brown College in Toronto, Karen moved to Ottawa in 2004 with her fiance. Outside of work, Karen enjoys every minute spent with her family and is a die hard Leafs fan despite coaxing to become otherwise.  GO LEAFS GO !!

 

Lisa  (Administration Assistant)


Lisa joined our dental team in early 2007. With 15 years of customer service experience she finds she is quite comfortable behind our front desk. When she isn't baking birthday cakes for us, she can be found playing with her 2 girls, endlessly renovating her house, or reading.  Leafs suck :)

 

Susan  (Registered Dental Hygienist)


Susy worked as a dental assistant in the Ottawa area for four years before returning to Algonquin College to attain her Certificate in Dental Hygiene. Susy joined our team as a dental hygienist in 1999. Susy has watched, participated in and experienced many of the positive changes that have contributed to Centrum Dental Centre’s growth and success. Working at Centrum Dental Centre has allowed Susy to juggle the balancing act for a successful family and professional life. In the precious spare time away from work and nuturing her daughter, Susy enjoys attending concerts and preformances with her co-worker/friend Kim.

 

Carla  (Registered Dental Hygienist)


Carla graduated from dental hygiene in 2000 from Cambrian College. In October of 2000 she started working at the Centrum Dental Centre. Carla is married to a great cook and has two beautiful daughters. Carla's favorite sport is hockey. She loves to read anything by Stephen King, Kathy Reichs and Patricia Cornwell.

Kim  (Registered Dental Hygienist)


Kim graduated from Algonquin College’s dental hygiene program in 2005. Upon joining Centrum Dental in 2005, Kim brought 10 years of dental assisting experience. Her passion for educating and promoting optimal oral health continues to be Kim’s number one priority in her dental hygiene Pactice. Outside of the office, Kim enjoys family life gardening and horseback riding.

 

Kimberly  (Registered Dental Hygienist)


Kimberly graduated from Cambrian College, Sudbury in 2005. She then moved back to Ottawa to start her Dental Hygiene career. She has been at Centrum Dental Centre since December 2006. Kimberly enjoys staying active outside and at the gym. Snowboarding, in the winter, is her favorite activity. She also loves spending time with her family and friends.

 

Natasha  (REGISTERED DENTAL HYGIENIST)


Natasha graduated from Algonquin College as a Dental Hygienist. She has always wanted to be a dental hygienist so she could take an active role in improving her community’s overall health by motivating, educating, and providing quality dental care. She enjoys taking her boxer/lab, Tigger, to the dog park and teaching her new tricks. She also enjoys cooking healthy meals for her family and friends.


Kristy  (Dental Assistant)


Kristy joined us in 2004 after graduating from the Dental Assistant program at Algonquin College.  She is a member of the Ontario Dental Assistants Association. In addition to being Dr. Khoury’s “right hand woman”, she can also be found occasionally helping out at the front desk.

Sara  (Dental Assistant)


Shortly after graduating from Algonquin College as a Certified Level II Dental Assistant in 2010, Sara joined the Centrum Dental team. She is very much a people person and enjoys interacting with our patients and wonderful staff here at Centrum. Outside of work, Sara enjoys spending time with family, friends, and her boyfriend James. She also loves shopping, travel, and sushi.

Besa  (Dental Assistant)


Besa graduated from Algonquin College as a Dental Assistant 2009 and joined Centrum Dental shortly thereafter.  She is originially from Kosovo, and has been in Ottawa for over 10 years. Family is everything to her and she is happily married to a wonderful man.  She loves listening to music and traveling. She believes that when you have a great smile, you have a great appearance.
